Yas! #LongDontHairCare gals, our straight hair sisters, this one is for you!

You have those gorgeous locks that can turn heads in any crowd, but sometimes you feel like you are limited to one hairstyle...so not true! Straight hair is very versatile, you can curl it into long Princess waves or do it BIG with a Brazilian blowout. The key to styling straight hair is maintaining a simple and easy hair care routine, that won’t require a lot of maintenance and is foolproof! You have to find the right balance that works for you.

Almost every girl with straight hair has been complimented on their long, tangle-free, luscious locks. A morning routine for a girl with straight hair is simple, just do a quick 60-second comb through and you are out the door. If it’s looking a little greasy, spray on some dry shampoo and tie it up into a simple bun or ponytail.

Not all straight hair is the same. There are girls with thin straight hair and thick straight hair. Each type of girl will require different kinds of hair products. If you’ve got thin hair, you can’t layer on too many products because it will weigh down your hair. So go light on the hair oils and leave in conditioners. Remember, less than a dime-size should suffice. If you’ve got thick hair, you can handle a bit more, try using a nickel-sized amount. Experiment and see how many product layers your hair can handle without getting too greasy!

One product a girl with straight hair cannot live without is a weekly deep moisturizing hair mask. Heck, use it two or three times a week if your hair is really thick! Our personal favorite is the Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Masque ($36), found at Ulta. You only need a tiny bit and be sure to comb it through with a wide tooth comb in the shower. A wide tooth comb will help untangle your hair in the shower so you won’t struggle later trying to get rid of knots when you’re styling!

Regular and routine haircuts are a must for girls with straight hair. Even if you are trying to grow it out and reach Rapunzel status, those splits ends need to be trimmed! Routine hair cuts are essential in growing out long and healthy hair. It is recommended that you get a trim at least every 12 weeks. As a rule of thumb, some stylist always says, “If your hair isn’t really doing what you want it to do, then it’s time for a haircut!.”

For those in between visits, we recommend using Garnier Fructis’ Sleek & Shine line ($5-$10). This line offers everything a straight hair girl can want. This blend of Argan oil and apricot will coat your hair while bringing out the shine, lust and tame frizz. Did we mention is also helps keep your hair sleek for 3 days, even in the humidity! Who could ask for anything more?

This line also specializes in repairing dry and unmanageable hair. So if you pair this with a weekly hair mask, it will help restore those locks to their gorgeous state.

It’s quite simple for girls with straight hair, just be sure to keep your hair moisturized with a weekly mask and trim it on a regular basis. Play around with different hair products to see what works for you, as straight hair comes in all kinds of lengths and thickness!
