Who said Summer was just for the Beach Babes? Though we love to whip out our favorite tees and sandals, a little bling never hurt anyone. Believe us when we say that bold accents and pops of sparkle are definitely not just seasonal!
We're seeing our favorite celebs and designer all focusing on the smallest of details and your nails and lips have begun to be the new inspiration canvas for design!
With Summer approaching, it's never too early to scoop out what lip art trends you should be rocking to that next rooftop day party.
A great place to start is finding your favorite shade of red to paint on your lips. We opted for a deep ruby red that puts Dorothy’s slippers to shame. Pairing this with matching red stiletto nails, you can command attention and be the boss that you are.
Red is such a great universal color to spice up any look. Anyone can rock this color, despite the common misconception. It’s just about finding your perfect shade. Colourpop has a great selection of matte and glossy liquid lipsticks if you’re on a budget. For our brand name beauties, Dior has a crimson lipstick that looks good on practically everyone.
You can even take this look a step further and add on gemstone rings of emerald or sapphire. The vibrant colors will complement each other perfectly. Sometimes you don’t need a crown to dress like a queen!
If you’re about those vibrant glitter lips, we got you! The key to these lips is in the application and creativity. Don’t be afraid to use different glitter shapes or a metallic lipstick. We went for a metallic base using the Profusion Mixed Metals kit in Cocoa! On top of this, we used multicolored glitter and set it with a nice gloss. Feel free to try out any color combo that works best.
Lips like these do take some effort to keep looking flawless throughout the day. If you’re going out to dinner or wearing them all day, you can just stick to the metallic lip or keep some extra glitter to reapply!
For those of you with a dark side, bright pinks and reds aren’t the only colors that you can rock on your lips or nails. All eyes will be on you with this galaxy-esque look that’s out of this world. Depending on your preference, you can use either matte or metallic liquid lipsticks.
This one will take more and artistry as you play around with those shades of blue or green. We suggest using liquid lipsticks as you can maneuver them like paint! As a base, start with your darkest shade focusing most on perfecting the outer edges. Before it dries you can add your lighter shades to the middle and blend it in a little bit with the dark shade. After this sets a little bit you can apply another layer of the lighter color to the center of the lip.
Of course, you could always stop here, but sometimes it’s fun to be a bit extra. Grab some rhinestones and delicately place them on your lips. It can be wherever you want! Add some lash glue to the rhinestones before applying if you want a longer hold.
Having some specks of silver on lips will also be great to match your nails! We achieved that classy space vibe by keeping a balance of textures on each hand. Acrylics aren’t for everyone, so you look at brands like OPI or Essie for affordable shiny paints.
Silver and diamond rings add an extra something that ties the whole look together. Even with a plain black dress or basic outfit, you can still stand out.
The next look we did, is a nod to the iconic Marilyn Monroe. Diamonds are definitely a girl’s best friend when it comes to a Barbie pink lip. NARS has a great pink lipstick you can use or try out Kat Von D’s K Dub liquid lip if you want something that lasts all day.
After your base shade, place diamond rhinestones on the top lip. The best way to finish off this look is to bring out your best diamonds (or costume jewelry) and stay fabulous.
We take golden hour to the next level by creating an all gold lip. You’ll look as fierce as ever sporting this for sure. It’s very Rihanna, and definitely perfect for those that love to take risks!
Try out the Too Faced Melted Gold Lip gloss for the same effect but with more shimmer. Ofra Cosmetics also has a true gold liquid lip that can be purchased online.
Adding some texture to the lipstick can easily be done with some craft supplies and will make it pop even more. Pair it with a golden grill, and you will be ready to start the next trend.
