Mocha Girl Beauty x Profusion: How to Rock the Boldest 2018 Summer Makeup Trends
Summer is in full swing and days are only getting hotter. You want to look good, but makeup melting off of your face isn’t always cute! Instead of reaching for those $100 foundations and $50 mascaras, it’s time to put on that affordable makeup that you know can provide quality. Sometimes a bold color goes further than a full face.
We partnered up with Profusion Cosmetics to bring you some summer looks that you can wear without worrying about the aftermath. The products we used are not only great for every day, but can easily be spiced up with a pop of color.
No colors of the rainbow are too vibrant! We’re here to show you that you can rock them no matter your skin tone.
Pull back your hair and keep all the attention on those rosy tones! We love a romantic blushing face, especially in this warm season. There are plenty of options for a pinky shade that perfectly pairs with your skin tone which is why we adore a look like this.
It’s effortlessly editorial that can be done in under five minutes and is totally wearable. The focus is on the eyes and cheeks for this so the pink you use can double as a blush and eyeshadow. Wing out the shade on your eyes to bring a soft intensity to them. This paired with the Profusion Nude Lip Kit keeps it wearable for a day out. Lastly, we used the Profusion Highlighter palette to top off the look!
Our next look places that pop of color on the lips and cheek. Never fear that hot pink color! It’s fun and playful which is perfect for the season. Using such a vibrant color can give your whole outfit a statement.
Starting off, we used the Define Brow Palette from Profusion to carve out a nice power brow. Keep the eyes neutral with a little mascara so that you don’t overdo it. NYX’s Pink Lust liquid lipstick is a great color if you want that iconic pink.
This same color can be dabbed on your cheeks to make a creamy blush too! To finish it we went for the Strobe and Glow Palette and Highlighter palette from Profusion for a perfect glowy touch.
Take a little risk and go outside of the box with this one! Not only is this a great way of being bold without overdoing your makeup, it’s perfect for festivals. You don’t need to go crazy to have that aesthetic look for your IG!
Define your brows using Profusion’s Brow Palette to frame your face. Lightly contour the sides of your face to add dimension. Guides aren’t necessary for this eyeshadow look! Using neon rainbow colors from brands like BH Cosmetics or Sleek Makeup, focus on the middle and outer corners of your eyes with the pigment.
Pull the color to the outer edges and bring it down to the under-eye. Instead of putting on lipstick, dab a bit of highlighter on your lips. This will give an even more psychedelic vibe to you!
Nothing says fierce like an intense monochromatic eye and lip combo. You want your face to glow so that it complements the colors. A slight arch to your brows will definitely add power to your look. Make sure not to go too intense so that the orange will stand out.
To get a similar look to ours try the Natural and Peach Metallic Eyeshadow Palette from Profusion. Blend the sunset tones all over your lid and up towards your brow.
For some affordable lip products, e.l.f has its own Orange Dream and Maybelline has a line of pigmented liquid lipsticks called Color Sensational Liquid Matte in shade Orange Obsession!
A vibrant blue to contrast those deep skin tones is a magical combo. Sometimes we shy away from such colors because we fear how it will look! A shade like this can almost do no wrong though.
Nothing attracts more attention than a gorgeous and edgy eye look. A liquid eyeliner or creamy pigment works best for this kind of eye. Paint the blue up and around your crease, angling it up towards your brow.
Keep it bold and blocky as it is the focal point of makeup! For added drama, draw a small dot below the center of the eye. L’Oreal and Maybelline have their own supply of cobalt blue pencil and liquid liners. The rest of the face is glowy with a bit of Profusion’s highlighters and a glossy lip.
Purple is a great color for those cool-toned beauties! If you want something soft and edgy these shades are perfect. This color is almost like an ode to the 80’s but we keep it fresh with how we apply it.
Using a mix of lavenders and violets, blend these colors together and build the intensity up into the brow. Place lighter colors on the inner corners to help give shape to your eye. The brand e.l.f. Has plenty of shadows under $5.
An optional step you can try out is adding the darkest shade of purple to your brows! You can use it in place of a brow powder or mixed with another brow product. Match your lipstick to your eyeshadow with shades from NYX or Colourpop! To further mattify the lip, add eyeshadow on top of the lipstick
