Day v.s. Night: Neon & Bling Edition
Day Parties are all the rage for Summer. It seems like all the best parties are now starting before 3PM.
Day parties can be tricky because you have to master the perfect hybrid look that can go from day to night without looking you’re trying too hard. What a fine line! For starters make sure you double-check your location for the event. Is this an outdoor venue? Rooftop? Poolside? With Summer being here, there are so many places your party can take place.
Once you figure out your location, let’s make the magic happen.
Your outfit should be effortless and totally easy. If you are going to rock this bold neon look, why not go even bigger and pair your look with a metallic outfit?!?! We wanted to achieve ultimate drama for this look. So we went for a blinged out rhinestone encrusted denim jacket. Go big or go home right?!
The simplicity of a slip dress will help balance out this bold look and any solid colored over-the-knee boot will give you just the right of amount of sexiness! This look can go day to night in a matter of seconds. If your day party starts to run into night, just take that jacket off for a sexy look.
Since you are wild at heart, the neon makeup trend is for you! Neon makeup looks are the baddest you can get and everyone will take notice at this daytime event. This makeup look isn’t for the shy, and definitely will turn heads in any room you walk in.
The neon look has three main focal points on your face: your eyes, cheeks, and lips. These three features will be played up to the max with mega color pop everywhere!
In order to not distract from your eyes, cheeks, and lips, use a matte and shine-free foundation. Your foundation will act as the base for the entire neon look, and it should be high-coverage and extremely matte! Depending on your skin type, you can try a variety of matte foundations such as: Bare Minerals’ Bare Skin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation, Kat Von D’s Lock-it Foundation or NARS’ All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. The choice is all yours.
Don’t use a beauty blender for this look, our goal isn’t natural! Use a flat foundation brush to apply your foundation and blend it out with a duo-fibre stippling brush to erase any harsh lines.
For the eyes, don’t be afraid of color! Contrasting colors only work if they are placed in the right places of your eyes. Try a bright pink for your eyelid and blend it out with a warm orange in the crease. Use a green shadow to line the lower lashline and bring the look all together with a classic winged liner. Show your wild side with long, wispy lashes and a strong brow highlight!
For the cheeks, be sure to follow this three-step rule: contour, blush, and highlight! The key to being bad & bougie is going over the top, so you will need to kill the contour, blend in a bright pink blush, and highlight so we can see you glow from Mars!
For the lips, go for a frosty pink color a few shades lighter than your blush. We chose to go with Cocoa Gold Cosmetics’ Pin Up to complete this look. This perfect pink will compliment any skin hue and will not compete with your neon look. Remember, Day Parties are the warmup for the main event! You don’t have to do much if you have already slayed your face!
Now, what are you waiting for? Go #SLAY.
