2018 Spring Makeup Trends to Try
The beginning of Mother Nature’s most beautiful season marks the start of something new!
Whether it be spicing up your day to day makeup routine or spring cleaning your wardrobe, it’s time to step into spring looking fresher than ever.
A fresh face look is a spring classic and never fails. However, don’t be afraid to stray away from the mainstream and play up your look with colored lips or even delicate flower accents! A new season calls for experimentation and a new you, so don’t be afraid to explore new tastes and trends.
First, achieving a clean beauty face is a must. A clean and simple base works as your canvas and allows you to play around with any spring trend.
After cleansing and moisturizing your skin, prep your skin with Too Faced’s newest facial spray, the Festival Refresh Spray ($24). It not only provides a cooling effect, which feels amazing during a humid spring day, but it also refines pores and improves skin texture. You can also use the setting spray as a finisher to lock in your look as well. It’s a two in one product!
If you're looking to add more glow to your skin, we love Rose Affinity's Glow Up Milk Mist ($22). Like the Too Faced Festival Refresh Spray, it's a two in one product, as it works as a toner and moisturizer.
As for foundation, skip the full coverage look and save that for your summer nights. We love Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation ($7.99), as it covers your skin enough, but it's still breathable and lightweight.
For the spring, let your skin breath in Mother Nature’s magic and go for lightweight concealer as well. Apply concealer in the areas you need it most, such as your undereyes or over any acne scars.
You can also use concealer to highlight as well, such as on your forehead, bridge of your nose, chin, and cheekbones. You’ll get a bit of coverage too, so you never needed a high coverage foundation in the first place! Set your concealer with a light dusting of translucent powder and your base is done!
What is spring without a little bit of bronzer and a tan? We’re loving Physicians Formula’s Butter Bronzer ($14.99) on the hollows of the cheeks with Skone Cosmetics’ powder brush ($21) to give us that goddess glow we’ve been craving all winter long. As a pro tip, use bronzer in the crease of your eye to add more dimension, without having to do a full eyeshadow look! Our favorite blending crease brush is Skone Cosmetics’ blending brush ($15).
No beauty routine is ever complete without lashes and brows! Any waterproof mascara should do the trick, go with your trusted mascara in your makeup bag. As for brows, keep it simple and let your natural brow shine through. We’re loving Glossier’s Boy Brow ($16), as it thickens, fills in, and grooms brows in place without giving you the overdone brow look.
To spice up your look, play around with new lip colors! We’re loving GloGirl Cosmetics' lipsticks that come in a rainbow of shades, perfect for the new season. Don’t be afraid to be bold with a bright purple! Or keep it classy with a bright red, whatever suits your mood!
If you’re more of a gloss girl, pick up Too Faced’s Magic Crystals Lip Topper ($19) or Becca’s Liquid Crystal Glow Gloss ($11). These glosses beat the traditional glosses of the past! With high sparkle intensity, these gloss are just right for the wallflower type of girl this Spring!
Match the perfect Spring beat with the right fashion! This spring, go further than wearing the traditional pastel colors and expand your taste. Stand out without fear, with colors like bright yellow and fun patterns. We love pairing a light, airy white ruffle top with yellow shorts. There’s no better outfit to enjoy the warm spring weather than in a pair of bright shorts!
If you’re in the mood to dress up a little more than usual, opt for a patterned romper or pair a skirt with a light and loose top. We’re eyeing baby blues and pinks this Spring season, so don’t be afraid to go back to those pastels! Kick it up a notch with a pair of light rimmed sunglasses and you’ll be ready for any outdoor outing looking cute and casual.
While Spring trends come and go, it's important to remember that you can still keep up with the fast fashion of the season with clothes you already have in your closet. Lightweight, button-up tops are a staple in every wardrobe and you can easily pull those out for Spring. Transform any formal button-up top into a casual everyday chic look by rolling up the sleeves and making your own DIY crop top. Pair the look with a baby doll skirt that fits for all seasons and you're Spring 2018 ready!
